What is Medicare?

Medicare is a federal government plan that provides health coverage for adults over 65 and those under 65 with certain disabilities. Original Medicare comes in two parts, Part A and Part B. Medicare Part A covers things like hospital services, skilled nursing facility care, hospice, and some home health care. Medicare Part B covers medical services like doctors visits, preventive care and screenings, some vaccinations, lab tests, and certain medical equipment.

What about prescription drugs?

Coverage for prescription drugs requires you to enroll in Medicare Part D. Premiums for Part D start at $35 a month and cost more if you do not enroll during your Annual Enrollment Period. So thinking ahead will save you money in the long run.

What is Medicare Advantage?

Original Medicare doesn’t cover everything and that’s where Medicare Part C, or Medicare Advantage comes in. It covers things like vision, dental, gym memberships, podiatry, and more.
