Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Oak Street Health

The mission of Oak Street Health is advanced by being an organization that supports team members of all races, genders, backgrounds, and values and lifts up diverse voices.

Our vision is to build Oak Street Health into the leading healthcare provider for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I), for our team, our patients, and our communities.

Diversity at Oak Street Health 2023 Report

See how we’re building a team of diverse Oakies that help shape our business and reflect our communities in which we serve.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion make us stronger. That’s why Oak Street Health is proud to support People Resource Groups. PRGs are voluntary, team member-led groups focused on fostering diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

These groups help team members (known as Oakies”) build stronger internal and external connections; offer social, educational, and outreach activities; and create development opportunities for future Leaders. Membership in any group is open to all Oakies.

Asian Tradition

Creates more inclusiveness for Asian and non-Asian Oakies and patients by raising awareness around the Asian culture and traditions that are unique to them. The PRG also deepens relationships and enhances the support for our Asian patient population.

Black @ OSH

Creates an inclusive environment that brings together people from a similar background with shared experiences. This PRG is a safe space to garner support and community across a group that is historically underrepresented in healthcare and corporate America.

Having a strong sense of DE&I and belonging is not optional; it’s a must-have. Oak Street provides the platform that’s necessary to positively impact and navigate the present and the future — not just for our employees, but also our patients!”
Jared Saunders, Regional Director of Operations

Branching Abilities Network

Fosters an inclusive and supportive environment for Oakies with disabilities by advocating for accessibility, raising disability awareness, ending the stigma associated with mental and physical issues, and empowering members to achieve their full potential.

Female Minorities in Medicine

Promotes opportunities for education, networking, leadership and mentorship within the medical/healthcare field. This group aims to provide the resources needed to successfully pursue your development through female racial minority empowerment.

Global and Multicultural (GMP) PRG

Works to increase awareness, cultivate inclusiveness, provide belonging, and empowerment to multicultural Oakies and our patient community.

Hispanic/Latino Puentes PRG

Champions diversity, cultivates belonging and promotes a deeper cultural awareness of the Hispanic/Latino experience within the workforce and broader community. This group strives to build bridges and move forward together! Creando puentes para seguir adelante!’

Grateful to be part of an organization that intentionally invests in increasing belonging and leveraging the strengths of all of our team members.”
Paula Daniliuc, Chief Population Health Officer

LGBTQIA+ PRG

Focuses on the needs of our LGBTQIA+ patients and staff. This group believes Oak Street Health should be a preferred and desired place to work and, for Medicare-eligible adults, a preferred place to receive primary care.

Military and Veteran PRG

Fosters a military/veteran-friendly environment at Oak Street Health, while creating development opportunities and a network for anyone interested in supporting or learning about working with military personnel.

I was attracted to Oak Street’s mission to serve communities where high quality primary care is needed the most. We address behavioral and social factors that influence health outcomes, and our diverse and engaged team members provide inclusive and accessible care.”
Dr. Marisa Rogers, Associate Chief Medical Officer

Parent’s PRG

Creates a forum for OSH parents to share experiences and struggles, discuss balance, and support each other. The group shares best practices for being successful in your career while also being a parent.

Well-Being PRG

Creates a safe, welcoming, and knowledge-driven space for those with a shared interest in emotional well-being and self-care within and outside of the workplace and for the communities we serve.

Womens PRG

Cultivates a gender-inclusive environment — both at Oak Street Health and in the greater community — where all individuals are valued for their talents and empowered to reach their fullest potential.

Oak Street’s investment in DE&I is consistent, ongoing and thriving. Over time, we have built an environment of continuous learning and belonging. Though the work can be challenging, it’s integral to rebuilding healthcare as it should be.”
