Role Description

The Expansion Care Trainer is foundational to Oak Street Health’s success as they help us prepare Oakies to execute their roles; Oakies are the heart of our company, and their success enables exceptional patient care. 

Expansion Care Trainers own the delivery of structured curriculum, provided in live and virtual learning environments to groups and individuals, designed to engage a variety of adult learners. Expansion Care Trainers travel to new OSH centers and are responsible for the effective delivery of initial in-center training and onboarding during the first few weeks of a new center opening. Expansion Care Trainers are part of a team of Trainers and Expansion focused leaders, within the Clinical Operations & Learning team, who are responsible for ensuring all Oakies are trained in the differentiated standards of our care model including role specific expectations and center-based teamwork. 

Our Expansion Care Trainers help us build a culture that embraces learning, and optimizes team member performance in new centers. Ultimately, this work allows us to stand up primary care in communities nationwide, increasing our impact and ensuring consistent delivery of our high quality care model. 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Travel throughout the country to deliver engaging and high quality training to groups and individuals, using a variety of learning technologies to connect with a range of learning styles; Deal effectively with challenging situations in groups to maintain ongoing group engagement

  • Coach one-on-one for ongoing performance improvements through refresher and remediation training

  • Work closely with logistics and other teams to ensure the smooth roll-out of all training programs and schedules to maximize efficiencies

  • Develop expertise in the Oak Street Health Care Model, operations, and role specific expectations to support Oakie education and the Oak Street Health curriculum 

  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of process and role specific job aids, to support effective application of curriculum in patient based scenarios

  • Prepare clinical teammates to deliver effective and safe patient care processes and approaches to ensure equipped for patient care duties 

  • Deliver in person educational activities that follow principles of inclusive learning styles, and provide practice opportunities for learners

  • Assess initial new center staff performance by monitoring, evaluating, and reporting training outcomes to local managers and central training leadership team

  • Liaise with supervisors and other leaders to identify performance issues where additional one-on-one support is required

  • Deliver and support the ongoing improvement of new center team training content and programs based on implementation of new or changes in existing patient care delivery, state/​federal regulations, accreditations/​licensing standards, or clinical scope of practice protocol. 

  • Provide feedback on course curriculums based on learner understanding, and to ensure the training we provide is achieving our intended outcomes to support organizational goals

  • Other duties as assigned

What are we looking for?

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse 

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred

  • Ability to travel up to 80% of the time

  • Subject matter experts who have a passion for training and coaching others to improve their performance

  • Prior experience in teaching, training and or mentoring employees strongly preferred

  • Command of in person classrooms, and learning technologies, or eagerness to learn

  • Comfort with training groups and individuals in a live classroom environment 

  • Trainers who have a genuine desire to innovate and be creative so that they introduce interactive activities to engage groups

  • Welcoming and dynamic screen presence and ability to maintain engaging learning environment and build rapport with learners 

  • In a dynamic and ever-changing environment, flexibility and adaptability are highly valued as is a desire to continually develop and grow your skills

  • Availability to travel to local center locations as needed, to provide ad hoc in-person support, education, and feedback to our clinical care teams.
